New Hyundai Ioniq Electric Car in Geneva Auto Show

The International Geneva Motor show is an auto show held every year during the month of March in the Swiss city of Geneva.

This year, all eyes were on Korean brand Hyundai, as people were expecting to see their new model. The release of the Hyundai Ioniq became one of the most important and expected debuts at this year’s auto show since it was one of the ‘’greenest” alternatives presented.

The Hyundai Ioniq car surprised the public because it is the first car in the world to offer drivers three different powertrain variants such as electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid.  The vehicle is an important milestone for Hyundai as they are trying to implement a sustainable strategy by extending their current product range. According to, General Motors presented a similar concept back in 1999 but no one put it into production until now. reporter that the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions have a 4-cylinder 1.6GDI engine that delivers 105 HP, attaching a six-speed automatic transmission. In its hybrid version, the vehicle is able to offer a total of 141 horsepower and the plug-in edition offers a range of over 30 miles in electric mode. On the other hand, the 100% electrical version of the Ioniq is able to reach 103 miles per hour with its 118 horsepower, and a range of 155 miles thanks to its 28 kWh battery.

The vehicle is a high-tailed hatchback that will be arriving in the U.S in the first months of 2017 and is set to be sold worldwide. The compact car offers security pack includes dead angle detection, intelligent cruise control and lane change alert.

Depending on the version that the driver chooses, the vehicles offer low to zero emission which is a novelty in the automotive industry. For similar eco-friendly types of vehicle, remember so surf the SWAP-A-LEASE website as there are constantly new listings.
